Life's Driving Strength

by Mary, written for Lydia

"Isee dance being used as communication between
body and soul, to express what it too deep to find for words."

Ruth St Denis

They ended up back at The Café, where JC had taken Justin to eat that first time they ever had dinner, but Justin was too excited to eat. The energy from the performance was nowhere near gone and he didn't want to eat, just wanted to remember the feeling of once again, being in the spotlight. JC had laughed when Justin told him, but he understood; he knew what Justin was feeling because he felt it every time he danced.

JC had placed them at one of the tables near the back, but by the windows and had ordered something quickly for both of them since Justin seemed incapable of even looking over the menu again. "Justin, you really did amaze me tonight." Justin flushed at the sincere words and tried to hold back his grin but it came out anyway. "The way your body moves," JC's voice trailed off, but his eyes stared into Justin's soul, daring him to shy away.

"The way my body moves," Justin repeated. "What about it?" He noticed JC's eyes darken in the soft lights of the restaurant. "Do you want to know if it moves the same way away from the stage?" his voiced had dropped into a lower register, one he knew affected JC by the way the older man jerked slightly in surprise.

"Does it?" he asked in a silky tone. Before he could get an answer, their food was placed in front of them, a light meal that Justin was grateful for. No questions were asked as they ate, a comfortable but slightly charged silence passing between them until Justin took a sip of water and looked at JC.

"You'll never be able to find out." JC raised an eyebrow at him. "Weren't you the one who said nothing could ever happen between us because we're both under ABT?" He took another sip of water innocently. JC stayed silent, opting instead to finish his food quietly and when he asked for the check, he paid for it quickly and stood from the table.

"Congratulations, Justin," he said in his own low voice. He ran his fingers down Justin's cheek. "Would you like to know what I think about your body or when your training is over?" Justin stood and faced JC. He had wanted the man since he admitted it to Britney those months ago, but he refused to give in just because JC wanted him after a performance.

"Why don't you tell me now and then we'll see if you deserve to see it for yourself?" He stepped away from JC and began walking towards the door, feeling JC match his every stride. Once they were out of the restaurant, he turned back to JC, "Thank you for dinner."

"Thank me in my apartment," was whispered in his ear.
